Psycho-Educational Classes for Women
INSIGHT© Group for Women
Do you find that there's just NO TIME to take care of yourself? Are you so busy trying to care for others that you sometimes feel resentful?
If you are "stressed out" from juggling several demanding roles, then this class is for you!
The INSIGHT Program is a short-term, life enhancing group learning program for women. Created and researched by Verona C. Gordon, PhD, INSIGHT is designed to prevent and reduce depression and stress-related problems in women 18 years and older. Her research studies have proven that groups effectively reduce depression and increase self-esteem in women for years after they have participated in the program.
Depression among American women has risen sharply over the last decade and now ranks as a major health problem. In today's society, many of us are playing multiple demanding roles: wife, mother, daughter, sister, lover, worker, and caretaker of aging parents. The high expectations imposed by society in terms of what we should accomplish - coupled with demands that we care for others BEFORE we think of our own needs - can result in feelings of FRUSTRATION, GUILT, and FAILURE. Emotional and physical health are directly related to an ability to handle stress. When we cannot cope with the demands of contemporary life and flourish, the cost to ourselves, our families, and society as a whole is astronomical.
The INSIGHT program will teach you how to:
Identify and meet your own personal needs without feeling guilt
Express your feelings and needs in relationships
Say “NO” without feeling guilty
Treat yourself as well as you treat others
Recognize your personal strengths and celebrate them
Let go of Perfectionism and work on Progressing toward realistic goals.
This class utilizes a workbook and 12 structured group sessions of 8-10 women led by Tiffany Adams, LCSW. It is based on the work of Verona Gordon and is very well researched. Please visit www.insightforwomen.com for more information about this highly effective program.
Classes are held approximately 4 times a year. Email tifflcsw@yahoo.com for more information about joining.
